A Family Winter Wonderland

A Family Winter Wonderland
With so many activities to choose from this winter, deciding on what to do and making time for all of them may pose a challenge! Situated in close proximity, the Belle Aire Shores community in Innisfil is ideally-located for accessing all these wonderful winter recreational facilities. Here are a few events to check off the list!

Innisfil's various indoor arenas and outdoor skating rinks provide for great fun-filled weekends. With a long list of times allotted for family recreational skating, and affordable family package rates at indoor rinks, there's no reason not to get on the ice. The Trans Canada Trail running through Innisfil also gives locals the opportunity to ski, snowshoe and snowmobile as the snowfall gets heavier. The 9-kilometre trail is easily accessed from Innisfil's 5th Sideroad and has space for visitors to park their vehicles if need be.

Barrie's Winterfest

Offers various fun-filled family activities including horse-drawn wagon and dog cart rides, an archery range, reasonably-priced helicopter tours, a scout's cookout and ice maze, bonfires, mini golfing, curling and great performances. Barrie's Rotary Club will also hold an impressive winter light display in Heritage Park during Winterfest, so be sure to take advantage. It's an event you won't want to miss!

For families who prefer to spend the season on the slopes, there are numerous resorts and chalets for children to learn how to ski and/or snowboard. Living north of the GTA, in Belle Aire Shores' conveniently-located Innisfil homes, is quintessential for easy access to all of these wonderful organized events and opportunities. Whether it be snowshoeing, cross country and downhill skiing, snowboarding, downhill snow tubing, snowmobiling or outdoor skating, the Simcoe region offers all these recreational sports at your family's disposal.

Barrie's Snow Valley Resort

Has snowboarding, skiing, and tubing rentals, along with lessons for all skill levels. The facility also hosts weekly events including their Guided Moonlit Snowshoe Tour. On January 27, the resort will also donate funds collected from lift tickets to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in support of child and youth mental health services. Families are also invited to enjoy various activities including bedpan races, obstacle courses, face painting, live music and great food!

The Horseshoe Resort

Hosts sponsored winter sport competitions all season, along with skiing and snowboarding lessons for kids of all ages. On February 25 they'll be treating visitors to a spring kick-off event called Polar Rush. It includes multiple obstacle courses, a bonfire after party, and medals for those competing in the race. A sure thrill for children and their parents!

Take a guided evening snowshoe hike with Blue Mountain's Scenic Caves Nature Adventures. Snowshoe across the suspension bridge and take in the breathtaking views of Georgian Bay and the nature trails. This extraordinary facility is located at the highest point of the Niagara Escarpment in one of Canada's UNESCO reserves, allowing for an environment saturated with wildlife and century-old forests.

There's no need to hibernate this winter! With various events running until the spring, it's no wonder young families are choosing Belle Aire Shores' to settle down in as it is the most accessible location to their desired family amenities.
